Very nicely built by Ivan Visek of Most is this 1/72 scale diorama presenting a Biber midget submarine whilst being made ready for an attack mission. Ivan made a very good use of the  SN72006 Biber and  SA72018 Biber Trailer  kits. For this trailer we also offer a resin wheel set no.  B72102 . Ivan also used Revell's Sd.Kfz 7 artillery tractor vehicle, Dragon's Horch 108 staff car and the SWS as kitted by the already defunct MACO firm. Martin has recently finished two kits produced by Special Hobby team, the first of which we are happy to show you now in our blog. This is our Special Navy kit no. SN72006, the German midget submarine known as the Biber (or Beaver in German).

October 2017 saw the release of our 1/72 Biber Midget Submarine kit which is a nice little model, no doubt about it indeed, but what one needs to get his submarine anywhere near a stretch of water? Yes, you have nailed it, a trailer. And that is also what the Germans had and used during the war, wheeled trailers underneath their Biber subs. So, we decided to follow the suit and make for you a model that you could add to your Biber. The model, whose boxart we have attached below, was completely 3D designed and the moulding tools were produced using our CNC milling machines. You may expect the model this December in Special Armour range, cat.no. SA72018.

The Biber midget submarine kit will offer the following five interesting camouflage options. Two of them with striking shark mouths, the other three only in grey with numbers on their conning towers.    

Two more sprues of our 1/72 Biber project have been test produced from the second moulding tool. The kit will contain two sprues B and two sprues C. The last sprue (D) with parts for G7a torpedo is intended for another kit.

SH team are working diligently on the 1/72 Biber kit which is to appear on the market in October. Today we would like to show you the decals which have just been sent out to be printed and also the advert billboard which hopefully will attract customers’ attention during the Tokyo Model Show.

The Biber moulding tool has been tested for the very first time and here we can watch the testshots. (sorry for somewhat lower quality of the pictures, our phototable lighting simply packed up after long and trusty service). Despite that we are sure that it is obvious that the sub is going to be quite a fab kit once finished. Yep some more polishing of the moulds and some other slight debugging needed still for the mould to receive even better surface finish than reached now. And there will be one more tooling block with the side torpedoes.

   Standa Hajek no doubt loves painting anything that soars up high, but this time he was given rather different task to handle. And he has handled it just beautifully as you can see for yourselves below.    Readers of our blog may already have found out that a 1/72 scale model of the Biber midget sub is almost on the finals now, all its major components and its accompanying trailer too being milled into an aluminium moulding block. We do look forward to seeing this tiny sub materialize and make it available for our customers.

   The Siebel Si 204 / Aero C3 fuselage parts that were displayed in the previous Models In Progress Update (read and see more here) raised huge interest among the modeller community. So we hope you will be glad to know that Special Hobby team is working diligently on this project to make sure it reaches the hobby shop shelves in shortest possible time. Today’s update deals with the clear parts, the moulding block was test run couple of days ago and now let’s take a closer look at the clear canopy parts. But beware, the moulds have still NOT been finally polished and double checked for any possible flaws.    In the second set of today’s photos you may recognize the Biber midget submarine project, its moulding blocks still being worked on in the milling machine stand.
