Nuremberg Info No.2


During the 2017 Nuremberg Toy Fair we were happy to reveal some of our projects that we have been preparing for some time now. One of such reveals is the P-40 Warhawk kit in 1/72 scale and I have to point out that our team have been really very thorough during our the preparations. Firstly, the decision was taken to bring the modeller all Allison engine powered versions, from the P-40E through the P-40N. The highly accurate CAD model was made possible using measurements taken on a real Curtiss fighter plane displayed at the Virginia Military Aviation Museum (your visit there is highly recommended!) and also thanks to original blueprints of the P-40 subassemblies. The resulting model is highly detailed and will be moulded using metal tooling blocks with several sliding components. You may expect photographic coverage of the sprues very soon here, until then we have brought for you a pair of computer rendered pictures of the P-40E and N design.

Dear business friends,      The Nuremberg fair is over now. Despite some chaos in the organisation before the start of the fair, we can say we are quite satisfied with our participation and the fair itself. Compared to last year, the first post-covid year, the exhibitors were much more plentiful this year. Many more traders and distributors also arrived at the meeting. So we practically did not have the chance to stop for a while. This, of course, filled us with optimism as it was nice to meet you all in person. When I write about personal meetings, I was most impressed by meetings with colleagues from Ukrainian companies. War is terrible. It's one thing to watch it from the comfort of your home on TV news, and another to hear about personal experience with Russian missile and drone attacks on civilian targets. Dear Business Friends,    In the September instalment of Special Hobby Newsletter, you are going to read about only one large scale model, the 1/32 Fiat G.50bis that comes in the bomber and navalized versions. All the other model kits are in 1/72 scale, and these are the P-40N fighter that sports very attractive schemes, really very colourful inter-war B-12A bomber as well as the re-issue of our 1/72 scale SMB.2 French jet fighter.    The detailing sets for this month contain the third set for our 1/48 SF-260 nice little kit (the two previous sets became available last month), the most interesting of the new sets is the wide variety of new details for ICM's 1/48 scale B-26B Marauder kit. Very first 2023 surprise for you from SH - the 1/72 F-84F Thunderstreak aka Super Hog

   2023 holds several surprises for you up its sleeve and the very first one is here today, the 1/72 scale F-84F Thunderstreak. This swept wing jet, alongside its predecessor the F-84F Thunderjet (straight winged) is no doubt one of the symbols of the Cold War early stages. And also an iconit jet of the NATO defence alliance. The USAF operated their Thunderstreaks, also affectively known as Super Hogs, both in the USA and over Europe. In the UK, the 20th TBW USAF F-84F jets were also fitted with a special underwing rack that enabled them to carry and deliver a tactical nuke. Deliveries of the F-84F made the Europe's air forces, from the very north down to the southern NATO flank, much stronger and effective and the jet kept flying from mid 1950s up to the early 70s and with some forces even longer.
