Renard R-31, a Marcel Novy build

Image
Marcel Nový has finished this quite sleek-looking, Belgium-built observation Renard R-31 parasol. And I must admit he has done it very nicely too. This kit, no FR0039  is produced by Special Hobby for our French colleagues and friends at Azur-Frrom. In case some of you are not familiar with this type yet (which we doubt very much), the Renard R-31 is arguably the most famous WW2 aeroplane produced in Belgium.  Our thanks go to Marcel, the doyen of our smallish group of vine-lovers, not just for the photos, but also for him praising the model. A.R.

FR0039 Renard R-31 in 1/72 - model finished by Libor Jekl (CZ)

Image
Libor Jekl, a top-notch modeller from Brno in the Moravia, has finished a model of the Belgian Renard R-31 parasol and was very kind as to share his photos with us and the readers of our blog. The Renard R-31 was an observation and light bomber aircraft used in similar role as our domestic type the Letov S.328. The Renards were, however, produced in significantly lower numbers and all of them were destroyed during heroic defence of Belgium 1940.

The Azur-Frrom 1/72 Renard R-31 kit #FR0039 has become available via our e-shop, so get yours before this limited edition model disappears for good. The Renard R-31 is the most famous Belgian pre-war military aircraft, its aircrews took heroinc albeit quite tragic part in the defence of their country against German forces in 1940.
