Image
The upcoming DB-7 project got one more family member so to speak, as you can see, one of the small parts moulds has just been tested with almost complete success.

Box tops in the print

Image
In a very few days we can expect these boxes to come out of the print, they are for the 1/72 F-84F Luftwaffe, F-84F USAF, the 1/48 Hi-Tech SMB.2 and 1/72 Biber submarine kits. While the Luftwaffe F84F and the SMB.2 are new releases, the Biber has been out of production for a few year now and the F-84F USAF is a last autumn release that was sold out about a month back. For the popular demand, we decided to launch the second batch. The final picture at the bottom is the blister card to come with the tiny piece of metal from the actual Luftwaffe F-84F that crashed on the territory of Czechoslovakia in October 1959.

Behind the scenes - progress of latest project moulds

Image
Today's photos take closer looks at the  progress our toolmakers have made with a few of the latest projects' moulds. While the 1/72 KFK (or Kriegsfischkutter boat) waits for some more tweaks, the 1/72 MB 210 mould insert is clamped to the milling machine getting the complex shapes done. This Marcel Bloch kit is to appear in Azur/Frrom boxes first, followed by our own release later.

Quarterscale and completely 3D printed...

Image
The direct 3D print is getting more and more involved in the model making also here at Special Hobby, that is simply the truth. And yes, making models and sets this way is not cheap. It allows is to produce very complex shapes and assmeblies that would not be feasible any other way in the required levels of detail and quality. Take, for instance, model 8069  60 cm Flak Scheinwerfer (Flak Sw-36) mit Sd.Ah.51 / Světlomet 60N s vlekem in 1/48 (already available) or model 8070 Elektrischer Generator 8kw für Flak Sw-36 mit Sd.Ah.51 in 1/48 which is due for release soon.

SH72505 F-84F Thunderstreak ‘Reborn Luftwaffe’ in 1/72 - boxart and colour schemes

Image
Yes Special Hobby are going to release another reboxing of the 1/72 scale F-84F Thunderstreak model kit. This time, the jet is depicted in liveries worn when it flew with the German Luftwaffe. And what might make the release even more interesting to the modellers is the piece of the real jet that will be included in the kit. These fragments were taken from the very F-84F that had crashed in the Sumava mountains back in 1959 during the Cold War. This machine is of course portrayed in our kit and is accompanyied with three more schemes...
