Special Hobby New Items Available at Modellbrno

Image
Interested to know more about what new and attractive stuff you may expect while visiting our stand at the Modellbrno this weekend? There is rather a lot of new items we have prepared for you meaning that we are going to focus only on plastic models and resin sets today leaving CMK models for tomorrow.    Judging not only by the box size, but rather by its importance the greatest new Special Hobby model at the show should be the 1/32 Hi-Tech Tempest Mk.V (SH32070). The reviews of our earlier Tempest kits published so far have been quite favourable. Now, the addition of the exquisitely detailed partial replica of the Napier Sabre power plant to the Hi-Tech release will most certainly give the maximum chances for the modeller to turn his built model into a true gem of the display case.        Because of a slight delay in our production, the next new item you may look forward to is the 1/72 SB2C-5 Helldiver “The Final Version” kit (no ...

1/72 SB2C-5 Helldiver “The Final Version” (SH72350) gets ready for customers and Modellbrno

Today we have begun packaging the SB2C-5 Helldiver "The Final Version" (kit cat.no. SH72350) so that the distribution of the model may begin shortly. The Helldiver kits will also accompany the other models already prepared for the 2017 Modellbrno event (taking place 16-17 June 2017). The photos below show you not only the kit’s box content but also several behind-the-scene looks from our packaging department, the colleagues there obviously suffering from kind of Helldiver-fever. Having the camera with me, I crossed over our yard and headed to the toolworks where the tooling blocks of 1/48 L-39 Albatros clear parts and 1/48 Si 204 fuselages are being worked on. Unlike the 1/72 Helldiver, Fulmar, Š.328v and 1/32 Tempest kits, we are not able now to promise that the L-39 clear canopy parts become available in time for the Modellbrno.                     starting point...   ...

Models In Progress – Update no.5

Image
Last few days here at Special Hobby HQ, and in particular in our office have been quite frantic. We have been finishing instruction sheets for several model kits that we aim to have on offer during the 2017 Modellbrno event. We managed to send to print the instructions for 1/72 kits of SH72330 Letov Š.328v, SH72368 Fulmar Mk.II / NF Mk.II and SH72350 SB2C-5 Helldiver. And couple of minutes ago the 1/32 SH32070 Tempest Mk.V instruction sheet followed suit. Once we receive the prints, all we will have to do is just start packaging all these kits for you. At present, we are being kept busy packaging 1/32 Yak-3 kits, 1/48 Finnish Buffaloes and also the Gamma 2E kit which has been prepared specially for our French partner (and yes, we will have limited number of the Gamma available at Modellbrno). We are also working strenuously on several other model kit projects, for instance we are going to re-release our Roc Mk.I kit and our colleagues in the toolshop are busy preparing the Si...

1/72 sprue not only for Helldiver and 1/72 Northrop Gamma 2E final sprue

Image
Earlier today our tool making colleagues trialed a moulding tool for 1/72 Helldiver and 1/72 and 1/48 Lloyds. There are still some finishing touches to be done to the mould so as to prevent short shot on some parts (eg Lloyd struts) and flash on others. We also began producing the very last sprue to come to the Gamma 2E kit which is designed for our partner, Azur/Frrom from France. This model will offer three Chinese scheme options and one British. We will have only very limited amount of this release available for our local customers.

Models in progress update vol.3

In today´s regular update on our in progress models, we would like to bring you a couple of pictures taken in our toolroom showing several tooling blocks being milled. In the first you can inspect the 1/48 Ro.37/37bis cockpit parts mould slowly taking shape. Speaking of which, bis version decal artwork and box top painting have been finished, the instruction booklet is going to follow very soon.   The next photos depict our progress with 1/72 Tachikawa Ki-54 Hickory clear parts tooling block, we hope to bring you more info on the model of this Japanese WW2 transport and training machine in the future. And the last few pictures bring you the 1/72 Northrop Gamma (designed for our partner in France, Azur-FRROM company) and tooling block for 1/72 Helldiver and Lloyds in both scales.   1/48 Ro.37/37bis       1/72 Ki-54, cavity side mould       and the core side just being milled       Gamma block ...

SB2C-5 Helldiver in 1/72 (SH72350) – camouflage options and decal artwork

Image
Our upcoming Helldiver release will contain four different marking options, one French machine that saw action over Dien Bien Phu in Viet Nam, an American machine fighting during the closing stages of WW2, a Greek machine used agains ELAS (Greek communist insurgents) and also one Italian aircraft. The decal sheet caters rather meticulously also for the plentiful stencils seen on the Helldiver. Some modellers may welcome the option of a separate French anchor marking printed in the smaller sheet enabling them to spray paint the Helldiver rudder rather than apply a huge tricolour decal. For this Dash Five version, a special clear sprue has also been prepared here at SH containing a different style of the sliding canopy section. Do not pay attention to those two smaller flat windows meant to be used with different version.

SB2C-5 Helldiver (SH72350) in 1/72 – new parts progress

The Dash Five version of the famous WW2 dive bomber, the Helldiver is to be one of our Spring 2017 new releases. The kit is based on ex-Academy plastic parts being accompanied by a set of new plastic and resin parts enabling the modeller to build the final production version. The resin parts have already been finished, now we are focusing on the metal mould for the plastic details mould common also for Lloyd C.V kits in both scales most complex parts - bomb bay doors, enlarged on SB2C-5
