MD-3 Ground Power Unit

Image
The MD-3 Ground Power Unit is an important element in preparing aircraft for ground operation and start. It was designed to provide the necessary electrical power for B-47 aircraft and could very well have been used for others too, such as the T-33 which required similar  power parameters. The unit was capable of providing 28 V DC 1500 A and 115/220 AC three-phase electrical power and used Continental 180HP six cylinder engine to drive its electrical generators.    The MD-3 is of historical value now, too and one example is on display at the Wright Patterson Base Museum in Ohio.  The MD-3 model kit set that no doubt can make many a diorama more life like is produced by Special Hobby in their CMK range in three major scales: 1/72 ( 129-7422 ), 1/48 ( 129-8058 ) and 1/32 ( 5130 ). A built example of the quarterscale MD-3 can be seen in the photos here.

SH72482 Seafire Mk.46 - boxart

Image
This piece of art has arrived only today from the computer of A.Karadis and the wonderful atmospheric picture has been designed for the coming SH72482 Seafire Mk.46 kit. Both kits shown in the image will be covered by the kit's colour options.

SH48232 AH-1Q/S Cobra in 1/48 - version specific sprues

Image
The impending 1/48 AH-1Q/S Cobra release cosnsists of several sprues identical with those of the earlier G Cobra kits,  SH48202  and  SH48230 . Being the TOW-armed late Cobra though, it has to contain also a few more parts. Well, two whole sprues it is. We have them for you now in the images below.

SH72466 Aero A-12 - first of the colour schemes

Image
Well the work on the 1/72 Aero A-12 Czechoslovak inter-war biplane progress a bit slowly than had been expected.  Several alterations were neccessary to make in the 3D design files, as the A-12 differed from the A-11 type in rather minor details, of which there was quite a lot indeed. What a suprise. We also need to machine a new mould for this release. What we are able to show now though is the A scheme of the total of five all of which covers the A-12 airframes that took part in the II. Air Races of the President of the Czechoslovak Republic Trophy and this one below also achieved the world speed record then. The machine is c/n A12.36 and on the victorious flight it had pilot B.Kašpar at the controls.

SH72482 Seafire F/FR Mk.46 in 1/72

Image
Special Hobby's range of iconic WW2 and immediate post-war aeroplane kits now gets quite welcome addition in the form of a re-released Seafire Mk.46. Well a re-release it is, however now covering different colour schemes from the original SH72231. The Seafire has two styles of fuselage in the box, one for the F - fighter version while the other is for the FR - fighter-reconnaissance type. The catalogue number of the current kit is SH72482 and now we would like to offer you a tiny treat to whet your appetite, the schemes of both portrayed machines. What might be of interest, even though both Seafires were on the strength of the same unit, they differ both in the verison and the type and position of the roundels.

Boxarts - kits to be released soon

Image
The 1/48 AH-1G Cobra model kit has already been around quite a while now, so the time is ripe for the late Q/S version. Kit no. SH48232 has its boxart done as you can see today and so is the boxart for the 1/48 SH48237 Grunau Baby glider model.

SH72395 F-84F Thunderstreak - 2nd testshots built model

Image
The second batch of the F-84F test shot sprues has arrived recently and so we had the pleasure to test build this plane again to check on all the issues that we had required our toolmakers to take care of. And they did, well almost. There are only very few minor issues now so the model release date is getting closer every single day. And as those mentioned problem spots did not relate to the underwing ordnance, we simply built this model in quite a clean configuration, with the bulky nuke only. And yes, the clear parts are very neatly polished now so you can see through the closed canopy now and no need to pose it open as was in the case of the first test build.
