SH72420 Potez 25A2 ‘Jupiter Engine’ - boxart

Image
One of our new releases this spring is also the Jupiter-engined Potez 25 biplane, kit number SH72420. Its decal sheet covers markings for three machines as flown in Estonia, Finland and Jugoslavia. The boxart below was very nicely created by A.Karidis and I do like this take on the Estonian plane over the Pirita river. Well I also believe you will like it too.

Special Hobby's toolshop crew are finishing milling these moulding blocks as shown in the images below. The top one is the 1/72 Mirage IIIC armament sprue tooling, the other two bear the unmistakable form of the J-3 Cub canopy glazing, for our 1/48 model kit.

The upcoming release of the 1/72 SAAB J/A-21R ‘First Swedish Made Jet’, model SH72480, will no doubt attract the modellers wit this fabulous boxart made by Mr.Reiniš. The kit should hit the shop shelves this May.

MG 3 infantry machine gun on bipod - featuring extreme detail throughout

Image
In this post we would like to  introduce another new release of this March, this time in the form of a 3D-printed set featuring the really highly detailed 1/35 scale MG3 machine gun in the infantry version.  The set (cat.no.  P35009 ) contains two 3D-printed guns joined by a fret of photo-etched details. The photos below show both the contents of the set and an assembled gun and as you can see, meticulous and patient work is required in this case. But then the result is really worth the effort and would be a real gem in your military-themed diorama. Besides this infantry version, we also produce the other type, set  P35008 , as mounted on military vehicles. Both available via our e-shop now!

A-20G Havoc ‘Low Altitude Raiders’ - the first of this month's new releases

Image
The 1/72 scale kit set no. SH72478  of the A-20G Havoc WW2 aircraft is just coming to market. The kit contains five grey styrene sprues and one with clear parts. The decal sheet covers one US machine with an interesting cartoon of a cat wearing a hat, the second option is a machine flown with the RAAF which wore rather unusual combination of both USAAF and Australian markings. The photos below show the contents of the kit in whole as well as in detail. The model is available via our e-shop where you can also buy the pre-cut masks set  100-M72021 .

SH48150 SK-37E Viggen - a very dynamic looking model by Takis Zarkadis

Image
Today, Greek modeller Takis Zarkadis shares with us the photos of a SH48150 SK-37E Viggen model that he has built. A very good idea indeed and quite nicely done too. His Viggen jet climbs steeply up in a very dynamic manner. Not very often seen on model shows or one's display case. The instructor and trainee figures in the cockpits come from Takis' spare parts box. We would like to suggest otherwise and offer you the following figures of pilots  F48350 , F48351  or ground crew  F48360 . Model no. SH48150 can't be bough any longer, so aim for  SH48209  SK-37 Viggen Trainer instead. Our huge thanks for the photos go to Greece of course!

News from Special Hobby 03/2023

Dear business partners,    The March Special Hobby Newsletter is here to bring you a trio of really attractive plastic model kitsets as well as highly interesting resin and 3D-printed models and accessory sets. The plastic models are represented, beside the re-release of quite eye-catching and colourful Swiss-operated Vampire 6 jet, also two models of aeroplanes that fought in the Pacific Theatre of Operations (PTO) in the war years. The Australian Wirraway and American A-20G Havoc are arguably among the very iconic types of military planes of that area. The resin and 3D-printed accessory sets and models do seem to be a response to the present time horrible situation, the Russian aggression and attack against Ukraine. Our range of model kits gets a few new members, the 1/72 HESA Shahid 136 drone and 1/35 MG3 infantry machine gun. The resin cast F/A-18F Cockpit set for 1/72 Revell kit is a contemporary matter, too. And the rest of the sets for this month might take you back to the previ
