SH48150 SK-37E Viggen - a very dynamic looking model by Takis Zarkadis

Image
Today, Greek modeller Takis Zarkadis shares with us the photos of a SH48150 SK-37E Viggen model that he has built. A very good idea indeed and quite nicely done too. His Viggen jet climbs steeply up in a very dynamic manner. Not very often seen on model shows or one's display case. The instructor and trainee figures in the cockpits come from Takis' spare parts box. We would like to suggest otherwise and offer you the following figures of pilots  F48350 , F48351  or ground crew  F48360 . Model no. SH48150 can't be bough any longer, so aim for  SH48209  SK-37 Viggen Trainer instead. Our huge thanks for the photos go to Greece of course!

1/48 SH48150 SK-37E Stör-Viggen - built model

Image
Today, Martin Pfeifer has brought us this all-grey beauty in the shape of the Swedish electronic warfare aircraft named the SK-37E Stör-Viggen. He has built it using our recently released kit no. SH48150  which differs from the earlier Special Hobby single seater Viggens by having also the Ram Air Turbine modelled in deployed position and a new pair of the forewings. Both the RAT and forewing flaps were always open/deployed with the undercarriage down.

SH48150 SK-37E Stör-Viggen - content of the box

One of our most recent releases is also the 1/48 SK-37E Stör-Viggen kit (#SH48150).  And as our ancestors already knew that a picture paints a thousand words, let us just bring you a couple of photos of the box content and let the pictures speak for themselves.    Just one note - be careful while rummaging through the kit, the box is rather full with the sprues. Our production manager himself, having taken the photos, was not able to put the sprues back correctly and had to leave the task to the packaging department ladies.

1/48 SK-37E Stör-Viggen gets a new sprue

Image
The new re-boxing of the 1/48 Viggen kit is to receive one more sprue with quite a couple of new parts. The content of this sprue is here for you to inspect in the images below. There are a pair of new forewings with flaps that can be portrayed in their down position, the ram air turbine and some more allowing the modeller to make a correct replica of the SK-37 version.  All these new sprue parts will accompany our next reboxings of the Viggen too.    By the way, will you be able to spot one almost fatal issue in this new sprue? Our production manager, having noticed it himself, almost passed out and fell off his chair.

Photo-etches and CMK resin sets for SH48150 SK-37E Stör-Viggen

The new two-seater Stör-Viggen kit in 1/48 scale will no doubt benefit from the addition of the pre-coloured fret of photo-etched details, the same as our single seater Viggen kits are to contain.    Also, do not miss any of our CMK resin sets which hugely raise detail levels of your model.

SH48150 SK-37E Stör-Viggen in 1/48 - progress report

Image
Expected for April release is our 1/48 scale kit of the two-seater Viggen in the electronic warfare trainer version known as the SK-37E Stör-Viggen (ie. Jammer Viggen). We also plan to release the standard trainer version, but with some delay. Our colleagues in the toolshop are just making finishing touches to the last of the Viggen moulds for this particular verison, which is, unlike the previous ones, a galvano-type mould with some aluminium elements.    Another progress that we would like to share with you now is the Stör-Viggen decal sheet, which was sent to Cartograf literally a couple of moments ago and we expect nothing less than another job extremely well done by our Italian friends.

SH48150 SAAB SK-37E Viggen - boxart

Today, we have another beauty by Standa Hajek's atelier, now it is the box top painting for our SAAB SK-37E Viggen kit in 1/48 scale. We also plan to use the same art for our 1/72 release sometime later.
