Newsletter 10/2018

The October release of Special Hobby’s regular Newsletter comes in an improved form. I have decided for some sort of modification and make the news and informations on our injection moulded models more clear and concise. Those of you who might miss the usual and more detailed history treatise, just head over to our website, everything is there.

You will have already noticed on our facebook site that Special Hobby have begun moulding the 1/72 scale SAAB 37 Viggen model. The first batch of kits being made is to go to Sweden to our partners at Tarangus while our own release is scheduled to be out in about six months‘ time. In this instalment of our newsletter, we are also going to announce the release of the 1/32 Fi 103/V-1 unmanned flying bomb, which should be joined by the model of the piloted version known as the Fi 103 A-1/Re4 in January next year. We are also going to re-release the massively-asked-for model of the DH Vampire in colours of Scandinavian air forces – SH72281 Vampire FB Mk.52 In Northern Skies. We also plan to bring back to life some of our earlier models that were originally released under Azur or MPM labels, now to wear the logo of Special Hobby, of course. Among the first to be released should be the Breda 88 and Breguet Bre 695, both in 1/72

AJ-37 Viggen ‘Attack Fighter’ 1/48 - Updated Edition

Art.no. Scale Barcode
100-SH48148 1/48 8594071084820

Re-release of our extremely successful model of the strike-fighter version of the Swedish SAAB 37 Viggen. A new sprue has been designed for this release which amends some flaws of the original model and offers also some new parts. The extensive instruction booklet has been revised too as well as the camouflage schemes.

Contents of the kit: eight grey styrene sprues, one clear plastic sprue, pre-coloured photo etches, decal sheet and full-colour instruction booklet. The decals cater for three machines, two of which wear camouflage scheme, the third one is in bare metal:

AJ 37 7-62, c/n 37062, call sign Gustav 62, F7 wing, Såtenäs, the 1990s. 7-62 was fitted with a later style of the ventral fin and also an air intake in the centre line pylon.

AJ 37 7-22, c/n 37022, call sign Gustav 22, F7 wing, Satenäs, 1973. During the visit at Buchel in West Germany where an air show took place in September 1973, JBG 33 and JBG 36 squadron badges were put on the tail fin. 7-22 featured a ventral fin of the early variety which was fitted to the first production AJ 37s. There were also two air intakes below the fuselage.

AJ 37 15-10, c/n 37051, F15 wing, Söderhamn, 1978. With the starboard air intake replaced with an unpainted part, it was displayed at F10 Änngelholm during an air show in June 1978. Note the two smaller underbelly air intakes and a later style ventral fin.
