MQM-74A Chukar I - 3D-printed kit set, 72 to be premiered at Telford, 48 scale in preparation
The MQM-74A Chukar target drone was developed by Northrop in the late 1960s and was used by the US Navy as well as a couple of NATO countries and Israel, and not just in the originaly intended role of an expendable target vehicle. On several ocassions, the Chukar was also used to expose the location of enemy AA sites or even to lure the enemy's SAM missiles - which happened during the 1973 Yom Kippur war between Israel and its Arab neighbours. Our 3D-printed kits in both major scales depict not just the Chukar vehicle, these also contain the rather complex launch tripod structure, a sheet of decals enabling to build one of six quite various options in two versions (early short nose, later longer nose) and three types of start bottles, or RATOs as they might be known more precisely. The 72nd scale kit set is to have its premiere at this year's Telford Scale Model World, while its larger cousin in 1/48 is planned to hit the shops before the end of the year.
