The
SAAB 37 Viggen is an aircraft that was ahead of its time. The unorthodox solutions chosen by its designers not only enabled the Viggen to meet the requirements placed upon it, but also to exceed them in certain areas. The Swedish Air Force ordered the Viggen in several versions, with the basic model serving as a versatile platform that, when equipped with specialized gear, could be used in multiple roles. The first of seven prototypes built took off on February 8, 1967, piloted by E. Dalsröm. Its electronic equipment was among the best in the world at the time; the Viggen was the first aircraft to feature a built-in computer with integrated circuits. The AJ 37 Viggen was the first version to enter service with the Swedish Air Force, followed successively by the SK 37—a two-seat fighter trainer—the SF 37—a reconnaissance version with photographic equipment in a modified nose— the SH-37—an anti-ship version with different electronic equipment and anti-ship armament. About ten years after the first version entered service, the second generation of the Viggen—the JA 37 fighter variant—was produced. It featured modernized electronic equipment and a more powerful engine in a slightly elongated fuselage. Older versions also received more modern electronic equipment; these were converted into the AJS 37, or alternatively the ASFS and ASHS 37. Some of the two-seat trainer aircraft were converted into the SK-37E version for electronic warfare command and training. It is precisely this electronic warfare version—known in Sweden as the Stör-Viggen—that we are now offering to you in a 1/72 scale model. The model is divided into ten sprues. The distinctive instrument panel is rendered as a 3D-printed part. The decals and instructions allow you to choose between four different aircraft. Two feature the classic broken-up camouflage pattern composed of several colors; two aircraft flew in a two-tone, gray-on-gray camouflage scheme; and one is adorned with a lightning bolt on the SOP.

Heinkel He 177A in 1/48 - not the same old bird

The 1/48 Heinkel He 177A is arguably one of our most asked for models long time out of production. Yes all we might do now is to inject a required number of sprues and restock the model and that would be it. But not, this is not what we aim for. Some of the original moulds have been replaced with new ones which can assure much better quality notable mainly in the smaller parts. The new moulds are 3D machined and the images below show very well the levels of detail this new method brings. This so to speak old-new bird is scheduled for 2023 release.
